Sr. Pastor

Bishop Elect Alfred P. Singleton
Bread House Sr. Pastor

The eldest son of former PCAF Presiding Bishop Alfred Singleton, Th.D and the late former First Lady, Mother Elizabeth Singleton, Pastor Singleton has been ministering the Word of God for over 28 years.

Educated in the California and Michigan school systems, he realized at a young age that he could not escape the call of the Lord on his life.  Accepting his call to the ministry as a young adult, he began to actively pursue the goal of increasing his knowledge of God’s Word, so upon completing his high school education, he enrolled at Lansing Community College (LCC) majoring in Religious Studies and received his Associates Degree.  After receiving his Associates Degree, he dual-enrolled at Michigan State University (MSU) and Calvin College (Grand Rapids, MI) to complete his Bachelors Degree in Religious Studies.  With the unction of the Lord still guiding his life, he continued at Michigan State University to receive his Masters Degree in Family Studies.  While pursuing his education, it was truly God who gave him strength and perseverance to continue his full time employment at General Motors, work as a business partner in the Rib and Bird Restaurant, fulfill his duties as Assistant Pastor, and raise a large family.

For over 27 years Pastor Singleton worked faithfully as Assistant Pastor of Bethlehem Temple Church, the “Bread House” in Lansing, Michigan under the pastorate of his father, Bishop Alfred Singleton.  In his role as Assistant Pastor, he also served as Chief of Staff for the Church Executive Board and Leadership staff, which encompasses approximately 20 main ministries and a large number of sub-ministries at the church.  Working closely with his father afforded him many opportunities.  His work with revising the church’s infrastructure by reorganizing the administrative responsibilities and implementing additional vital ministries has blessed the church to grow physically and spiritually.  His additional ministry work includes teaching in-home bible studies in the Lansing area in collaboration with the church’s outreach ministry, in which several individuals have been saved; and teaching monthly in-home bible studies in Holland, MI for 5 years.  In Holland, many people of various ages were encouraged and brought back into relationship with the Lord, as well as other Christians who attended the bible studies to strengthen their knowledge of God’s Word.  Pastor Singleton has alsoAnd been blessed to share the message of salvation and deliverance in many churches abroad, during several Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith, Assoc, Inc, International (PCAF) Mid-Winter and National Conventions, and in other venues including Prison Outreach.

In the late 1990’s, with Bishop’s vision at heart to expand the church ministry to better meet the needs of the membership, and spread the Word of God through outreach within the community, Pastor Singleton initiated a search for options that would meet those needs.  After meeting with various developers who suggested building a new facility to accommodate the growth prospects, it was during one of his searches that God led him to South Baptist Church at 1518 S. Washington Avenue, a large church building situated in the heart of the city.  He shared this “diamond- in-the-midst-of-the-city-find” with his father, who was aware of the church from previous events.  And, although the church was not initially for sale, through amicable meetings between both church’s administrators, South Baptist was sold to Bethlehem Temple in 2000.  With the awareness that Bethlehem Temple means “House of Bread”, it was upon this move that Pastor Singleton recommended the church name include Bread House in its official name.

With 55,000 square feet of building sitting in the midst of over 5 acres of property in the heart of Lansing, the Bread House has more than enough resources to expand sharing the Word of God.  In 2003, Pastor Singleton and District Elder Victor Trevino, who had pastored a Spanish Apostolic Assembly in Lansing, met to explore an opportunity to expand the Bread House to encompass the Spanish community.  Pastor Singleton strongly encouraged this opportunity by sharing his vision with Bishop.  It was after this series of meetings with both Elders and Bishop that the Bread House Spanish Ministries were instituted to address the growing need for ministering God’s Word to the Spanish community.

The Lord blessed the Bread House to again expand its resources to encompass a Burmese Ministry to meet the worship and ministering needs of the growing Burmese Christian community in the Lansing area.  The first Burmese service was held in March, 2011.

Within the Lansing Community, Pastor Singleton has served on the focus group for the Salvation Army; as a Lansing City Police Chaplain; as well as on the Lansing Pastors’ Alliance.  He’s also rendered service as Chaplain for political events held at the Michigan State Capital Building, the Mayoral Inauguration; and for several Lansing business organizations.

In March, 2011, after serving under his father as Assistant Pastor for nearly three decades, Bishop Singleton passed the Pastoral Mantle of the Bread House to Pastor Singleton.  A beautiful and blessed inaugural service was held with hundreds attending to commemorate this historical event.  The sanctioning from Bishop Singleton and the anointing of the Lord was truly evident in this service and upon Pastor Singleton’s life.

Nationally, he served as Treasurer on the Board of District Elders for the Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith, where his tenure as District Elder extended over 13 years.  During the 2011 National Convention in Orlando, Florida, he was nominated to the office of Episcopal Bishop.

Pastor Singleton and his wife, Vivian, have been married for 31 years.  They have been richly blessed with 6 wonderful children; Alfred III, Ciara (Tyrice Brown), Rebecca, Erica, Bianca, and Nicholas, who all actively and dedicatedly work in a number of ministries.  They are also the blessed grandparents of Reese Bailee Brown.

Pastor Singleton’s expressive, demonstrative style of communicating the gospel simply and applicable makes his delivery of God’s Word enlightening and encouraging.  He is an anointed man of God committed to living a life of holiness while spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to save the lost-- bring deliverance to those who are captive; encourage those who are disheartened; teach the principles of Christ … and to fulfill God’s vision, purpose and direction for his life.
